2012 GL63 AMG Spied During Testing

It’s probably because of monsters like these that Mercedes is striving to lift its CAFE numbers with other models. Caught testing in Sweden is Mercedes’, or rather AMG’s GL63 SUV.
Based on a modified ML platform, the new model’s nose , though heavily
camouflaged, looks to have similiarities to the current E-Class. As an
AMG variant, expect the huge bumper to have gaping air scoops, as well
as a quad exhaust out back. That free breathing equipment should
produce a sound that would be as menacing as its looks.
Although the exact standard safety and luxury features aren’t known
yet, what we can expect is the biturbo V8 under the hood, which is the
mainstay of the high performance vehicles being manufactured by
Mercedes. In its current iteration, this 5.5-liter mill produces 540
horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. That’s more than enough grunt to
propel this heavy beast to twice or thrice the legal speed limits.
As a 2012 model, the GL63 AMG should be in showrooms early next year.
