MKB Upgrades The SL To Supercar Levels

MKB, a tuner of Mercedes-Benz automobiles, has introduced the P1000 model, an SL with 1015 horsepower on tap. With the increase in power comes a corresponding increase in torque, with the maximum delivery situated between 3300 and 6000 rpm.
In repeated tests to verify the car’s performance, a very quick 3.6
seconds was recorded for the 0-100 km sprint. And the stunning
acceleration doesn’t stop there. Another 5.3 seconds of nailing the
throttle to the floor will get you to 200 and in 21.5 seconds, you will
have reached 300 kph. To test the car’s top speed, the car was shod with
Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires at a track in Papenburg, where it
repeatedly hit a top speed of 350 kph. No tricks like folded side
mirrors or taped vents were employed to achieve these speeds.
Modifying the 6.0-liter V12 to produce and handle upwards of 1000
horsepower necessitated new components to the turbocharger and cooling
systems, among others. The fuel system components were also modified in
order handle the engine’s enormous demands for a constant and voluminous
fuel supply. Gearbox internals as well as the limited slip
differential are uprated to handle the enormous spike in torque.
All these modifications will take around three months for the
craftsmen at MKB to perform. The resulting vehicle is one like no other
and can run with the likes of cars from Ferrari and Lamborghini.
