Crime against the wealthy, while relatively limited in America, runs rampant internationally. If you’re considering protecting your family, Manhattan Armor has you covered.

Established in 1979, Manhattan Armor is the only all-in-one dealership and aftermarket armoring company in the country. They will consult with you on the proper new vehicle for your needs, and will custom-order and armor the vehicle in-house with their technicians. They specialize in using lightweight, yet maximum-performance armoring equipment that’s also undetectable to outsiders.

Manhattan Armor modify a host of luxury vehicles, from Porsche and Range Rover to Lexus and Cadillac, though it appears the W222 Mercedes-Benz S-Class is their dealership’s bread and butter. The S-Class can be protection-fortified in any model configuration, from the S550 up to the S65 AMG. Manhattan Armor’s website offers a comprehensive overview of their modifications. Let’s tour some of them together.

The first part of the W222 they doctor is the vehicle glass. The company adds some of the world’s thinnest and lightest ballistic glass, made exclusively for them by AGP. After that comes the body armor, enhanced with high-tech Armor Shield thermo-formable ballistic paneling, which varies in thickness around the vehicle. Areas reinforced with armor include the doors, roof and pillars. They forgo mentioning it, but I imagine the undercarriage is armored as well.

Manhattan Armor also equips the S-Class with run-flat tires and battery-armoring insulation, as well as police lights, sirens and a PA system if so desired.
