The Aussies Grab the Keys to the C63 AMG Edition 507 for a Track Test

The Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG is one of the greatest cars Mercedes-Benz has ever built, and when production of this steroidal W204 ends, it will be missed because a large component of this car’s charm lies under the hood with the 6.2-liter, naturally aspirated M156 engine that will soon be retired in the name of fuel economy/CAFE requirements.

This is sad … not as sad as the precipitous horsepower decline of the ’70s, for the next AMG C-Class will have more power thanks to turbocharging, but the W205 AMG will stir the soul less than the current model. We have no doubt it will be a great car; in fact, it will be better than the current car in nearly every way, except for the engine.

We think it will go down like this: if the current C63 AMG is like Steve Jobs, the next C63(?) AMG will be like Bill Gates … richer, but with less of a soul.
