Brabus G-Wagen Truck: the Evolution of the G-Wagen
The G-Wagen is already a big SUV. And then it was made even bigger by the help of Brabus. Then Mercedes decided that Brabus didn’t go far enough and came out with the G63 6×6. Then it got too big, so Mercedes lopped off an axle and gave birth to the G63 4×4. Now, we’re at a crossroads of such. The G-Wagen can’t really get any bigger, but can’t really get any smaller. So what do you do to modify it? How do you stand out, especially in L.A. where it’s the SUV of choice for those that have new money? Well, you make it a truck, that’s what.
A few years ago, Mercedes was offering a G500 “Lang,” which essentially means long, which essentially means it was a pickup truck. The folks over at Brabus got their hands on one and decided that the original engine, body, and interior just didn’t suit the big truck. So the company re-engineered practically everything on the truck to become what you see here.
Now, this looks a bit too weird for my tastes. Maybe it’s the big wheels and small brake rotors? Maybe it’s just the proportions of it? I just don’t know, but it’s definitely not for me. But what about you all? What do you think of this Brabus G500 XXL?
