Breathing New Life Into a C43 AMG With a C55 Motor

C43

The C43, for its time, showcased the beginning stages of madness that AMG would come to be known for years later. The lowly W202 (with a strange combination of highly sophisticated multi-link rear suspension, mated to ancient tech in the form of drag-link steering) was the first by any German car maker to cram a big V8 under the hood of their smallest 4-door sedan. Using the 4.3 litre version of the M113 V8, it had gobs of power and created a monster that would only grow in power and displacement in future generations.

Fast-forward to the W203, and that C55 still used the M113 V8, but punched out to 5.5 liters, making considerably more horsepower. So given that it’s the same engine, a swap would be easy, right? That’s what MB World member Agrovain is aiming to find out, and you can follow the build in this thread. His goal is simple: build it clean, and have it pull 12s in the quarter mile. Now it isn’t the supercharged M113K motor, but rather the naturally aspirated version. Either way, we’re excited to see how it works out, and we know the guys at AMG would be very proud.
