C-class Takes on Jaguar XE

For our American audience, don’t let the Aussie accent in the video below throw you off. The C-class and Jaguar XE will battle head to head in the contiguous states for the same battle ground already fought by the BMW 3-series. Jaguar’s entry into this segment comes after a bit of a hiatus due to the dreadful X-type, and the XE comes to us with the British company on far more stable footing.

The models discussed in the Drive.com.au video are Australian versions, most notably the C200. With our “smallest” engine being the turbo 4-cylinder found in the C300, we can only really compare the driving experience. The C200, which makes 135Kw (which is about 180 or so horsepower) is an engine we simply won’t see in the U.S. market.

The Jaguar XE specs for the U.S. are still in the process of unveiling, but we can expect that it’ll come with turbo 4-cylinder and V6 engines. Rear drive will be standard as well as optional all-wheel-drive is on offer for the more northerly states who need to get through winter muck. More details for the Jaguar XE will be revealed, but with Jaguar’s recent impressive turnaround, it’ll be interesting to see how they compare.
