C63 507 Gets Tested at COTA
Unlike cars from a certain rival German manufacturer, AMGs don’t see a lot of track time. That’s sad, because someone in Germany spent a lot of time sorting out the car so that it doesn’t have a fit out on the race course. Well, one MBWorld member has shown that AMG makes a competent track car. Member betrezra brought his 507 edition C63 to Circuit of the Americas for a bit of track day fun.
His reports are a mixed bag of good and bad, but for the most part, the day went positively. If you’re a taller person, fitting in the helmet might be an issue. At six-feet tall, betrezra had to recline in order to gain enough clearance. That was really the only negative he could find. The car performed admirably at COTA , although attempting to work around traction control was a bit of an issue. Having instructed with AMG on track, it leads me to believe the traction control was left fully on. Luckily the southern states are open year-round for track days, and we’ll likely see this 507 out more than once.
