Carlsson Gives S-Class the Midas Touch
Perhaps unsurprisingly, these gold C50 s are headed to China. Carlsson will only build 25 of them. Considering how much work (and wealth) is going into each car, it’s impressive they’re building that many.
Each car required over 200 man-hours to build. More than 1,000 sheets of gold leaf where adhered to the body panels. Gilding the interior pieces took at least a hundred man hours to assemble.
Carlsson is offering three different models, the least expensive of which goes for $370,100. The price tops out at $545,500. I suppose that makes it an irrational purchase for anyone that isn’t a multi-millionaire, but hey, that’s the cost of luxury.
