Currently, we’re in the midst of Mercedes reworking all of the company’s SUV lineup. Every SUV has been changed in some way, shape, or form, and with that, Mercedes has been introducing new naming schemes.

This week, our spy photographers caught one of these new SUVs roaming in the wild getting an early shakedown. Here we have the new GLC, which is taking the place of the GLK. The new GLC will be slightly bigger than its predecessor, and have a longer wheelbase to accommodate the larger cabin. This increase in size is to help the GLC better compete with its rivals, the BMW X3 and the Audi Q5.

However, size and name aren’t the only things changing on the new GLC. As you can see through parts of the camouflage, the new GLC adopts some of the Mercedes family designs throughout the front grill and rear bumper.

Options aren’t yet clear, but we do know that the base engine will be a new turbocharged 1.8L four-cylinder and some form of a V6. While an AMG variation has been rumored, Mercedes has declined to comment.

So what do you all think of the new GLC, at least from what you can see? Will it be a worthy adversary to the BMW X3?
