There are few AMG’s that hold on to the imagination like the Hammer. Even the name is tough to forget. Yes, Mercedes has built more beautiful cars, cars with more poise and elegance, and cars that are more rare and faster than the old, boxy E-Class. All of that is true, but none of those cars have done as much for AMG’s image as a tuning house (or Mercedes image of building powerful road-going tanks) as this V8 hot rod.
Chris Harris has the best job. He gets to go to AMG, tour their factory, and then drift the original E55 AMG around in the wet. If you’ve driven an AMG E-Class with a V8 since 1986 This one is a short video compared to his normal longer stuff at about 5 minutes long, so it’s easier to watch if you’re doing something silly like “working.”
