Drag Race: E55 AMG Out-Muscles American Muscle … Again
Another drag race, and another chance to see a W211 E55 AMG beat a big-bad American straight-line performer at its own game.
At least this time the E-Class AMG’s American-muscle-car opponent, a Chrysler 300 SRT-8, had the sense to leave the starting line with a modicum of sophistication, unlike an earlier drag race against a 5.0 Mustang where the pony car left the starting line like a four-year-old who missed his nap.
Perhaps the SRT-8 left the line in a more adult-like manner thanks to all the Mercedes-Benz engineering that went into the LX platform.
This video comes from forum member “wes459” who recently threw a Eurocharged Stage 1 kit at his 2006 E55 AMG. The 2006 SRT-8 he’s racing has a tune, but as you’ll see, the Chrysler just wasn’t warmed over enough to keep up with the Benz’s whistle-register performance.
