E63 Tuned to Supercar Territory

It’s no secret that tuners have found ridiculous amounts of horsepower hidden within the E63’s twin turbo V8. So much so, that now we are seeing them just shy of four-figure power numbers. Impressive for something relatively demure as the E63. What to do with all that power? Hammer down next to your closest supercar rival, of course!

The driver of the E63 has a driving style that’s about as difficult to understand as the Russian names in the above photo. Seemingly asleep when the light goes green (although pro-tree can catch some off guard), the first race in the video below almost handily goes to the Lamborghini, but the almighty power of the Merc quickly reels him in. The second race between the AMG and a new competitor in an M6 at least goes a little better.

Two wins is great, but with a proper launch, this could have been embarrassing for the competition. It almost makes you think he wasn’t using Race Start mode. Having used it in the new E63, I know the launches are much more dramatic than what appears to be just a light acceleration off the line. Either way, slow reaction times shouldn’t get in the way of applauding the AMG guys for building a monster with room for fiddling around the ECU, and room for more than just one friend.
