190E With LS1 V8 Is Truly Awesome

This 190E was Getting a Makeover With a Mean LS1 V8, but What Happened?

Way back in 2007, we were presented with an interesting engine swap. MBWorld member Gen3Benz had the ambitious plan of stuffing an LS1 V8 motor under the hood of his W201. Affectionately called the LS-190, the swap looked to be carefully planned out, and rather well executed.

Pictures of the front-end cross member modifications are all we really have to go by in terms of details of the swap, as opposed to actual measurements. After a W210 steering rack was installed, some simple mock-up engine placement pictures showed that progress was being made. Then things got quiet for a while.

New life was breathed into the project in 2008, with most of the long-block complete and a new Cosworth Evo body kit ready for the spray booth. Things were looking good and the car was running, however, updates stopped in 2009. Sadly, we never saw the completed version of the car.

Over the years, there have been a number of swaps into a 190e, but this one looked like it was one of the cleaner builds. Hopefully it hasn’t been sitting incomplete in some shop all of these years, and has either been finished or gone on to a new owner to complete the work.

By chance does anyone know where it might be?
