Thing certainly have changed, haven’t they?

In some ways, yes. Today’s Nurburgring is much greener. The road is boarded by trees and heavy vegetation for much of the course, but back in 67, that was clearly not the case. Also, notice there’re no guardrails. No curbs. No barriers. If you’re tires/hubris sent you skidding, there was little in the way to stop you.

The phoos were taken by a Porsche engineer names Jack Moody, according to Reddit. Moody was also a photographer, and while most of his shots were street photography, this set he took from inside the car. Browsing through this gallery is like looking back into time. The ring is such a major part of modern car culture, seeing it as it was forty years ago is a stark reminder of what motoring used to be.

The car he’s driving looks to be an old Mercedes. I believe it’s a 280 SL. Not a sports car, but that V8 is enough the get around the ring.
