…But not first place. The Indian GP yesterday saw reigning champ Sebastian Vettel clinch the F1 championship, his fourth in a row. Tires were an issue once again as the soft options suffered from early degradation affecting all drivers except Sebastian Vettel. Who, of course, qualified on the pole. The Mercedes-AMG Petronas cars were strong too, however, qualifying in second and third.

It was an exciting start when the lights went out at the Buddh Int’l Circuit as Hamilton had his car pointed at the gap between Vettel and Rosberg and managed to squeeze Rosberg out at the first corner to take second place. By the end of the first lap though, he had fallen behind Massa AND Rosberg. The remainder of the race continued without much excitement for the Mercedes-Benz factory team and saw Hamilton finish in sixth position due to tire strategy but Rosberg did manage to push hard the entire race to finish second behind once-again Weltmeister, Sebastian Vettel. Oh well, there’s always next season…
