Mercedes-AMG GT S Donuts

The world’s press has been absolutely fawning over the new Mercedes-AMG GT S. It’s Mercedes’ answer to the Porsche 911 and the forever-upcoming Acura NSX. It’s a supercar you can use each and every day. I know. I’ve driven it. It left me speechless. And I talk a lot.

The 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged engine is absolutely bonkers, and produces g-forces so strong you’ll be absolutely blown away by the way this supercar accelerates and stops. It’s the epitome of a modern supercar: everyday drivability, but the performance to smoke fighter jets.

Recently, Kelley Blue Book got their hands on the AMG GT S, and stomped around the canyons of California to see what’s what with the supercar. However, the real story, which you can hear on The Smoking Tire’s latest podcast, is what happened to this car after KBB had it.

According to Motor Trend’s Jonny Lieberman, a journalist had this specific car up on a famous California canyon road when a rock slide occurred. The journalist thought he was dead, but thankfully came out unscathed. The car, however, was totaled, and the journalist who was supposed to get the car afterward, cried.

Thankfully it was a swift death, but let’s remember this car as it was, and not how it is.
