Mercedes-AMG A45 Takes On BMW M2

There’s probably nothing generating more buzz out of the Bavarian camp than the new BMW M2. So how does Mercedes-AMG’s A45 fare against the competitor?

Well, pretty damn good, as highlighted in the video below from Cars.co.za.

Pitted against the M2 in a drag race, the A45 AMG proved that BMW’s new high-powered compact machine isn’t the only one deserving attention. When it comes to numbers, the two cars are pretty much evenly matched, which is what makes this head-to-head run even more alluring for performance buffs.

The all-wheel-drive AMG A45 is powered by a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder turbo engine with 375 horsepower and 350 lb.-ft. of torque. The new M2, which stays true to BMW’s love for rear-wheel-drive performance, is equipped with a 3.0L I6 turbo engine cranking out 364 HP and 342 lb-ft. of torque.

Yup, this is definitely a match-up to watch.
