Tales From the Block: 2015 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG 507 Edition

We often get a sneak peek at wholesale-only vehicles that catch our attention, and this blacked-out C-Class AMG Coupe is one of those. But, like with most used cars, what’s the real deal with this one?

For the sake of not pissing off a few people, I will keep vitals like the auction company name and other details secret, but know that this vehicle recently rolled into an auction company’s floor, and will be going on the block this week. That makes us ask one very important question: why?

Most cars received as trade-ins or lease-returns are usually sold at the receiving dealership, though some are traded or auctioned off. I’d normally think that a pristine 2015 Mercedes-Benz C63 S AMG Coupe would sell rather easily as a Mercedes Certified Pre-Owned vehicle, especially with a super-low 17K miles on the odometer, but then I opened the door…

Before I tell you the reason why this 507 horsepower Benz is going through the auction block, let me remind you that a 507 Edition C63 features a higher 176-mph top speed, a vented aluminum hood directly from the C63 Black Series, a multicolored leather interior, and gorgeous 19-inch shoes. From the factory, this package was an extra $10,000 bucks!

A once $95,000 Mercedes is now being listed wholesale for under $57,000 bucks, and the main reason for that, is the previous owner. Yup, he or she was a serious smoker.

Open the door, and immediately you’ll think you’re entering a low-grade European night club, or a high-end cigar humidor, whichever floats your boat. Regardless, that’s the reason why the folks at the dealer couldn’t sell it. Cigarette smell is virtually impossible to remove permanently, and no one wants to buy an ashtray-edition AMG. What’s even worse, is that the dealer-only sales listing doesn’t mention the smell, which means that whoever buys this stinky beauty will only realize it once it’s too late.

That stinks!
