Mercedes-AMG GT R Spied Filming on Set of New ‘Transformers’ Film

Even if this Mercedes-AMG GT R isn’t any more than meets the eye, it’ll be enough.

Of course, that won’t be the case at all, considering this is the AMG GT R starring in the fifth Transformers film, Transformers: The Last Knight, which is currently shooting in Newcastle, England. The sexy beast will be playing Drift, a former Decepticon who has turned from the dark side to join the good team of alien robots, the Autobots.

As you can see in the video below, Drift is in good company too. Rolling out with the AMG is a Lamborghini Centenario named Hot Rod, a 2017 Chevrolet Camaro known lovingly as BumbleBee, and a Chevrolet Corvette C7 Stingray who goes by Crosshhairs.

Apparently, the scene is part of a big race down the streets of New Castle. And as you can see in this other video from the set, there’s also some military-grade vehicles giving chase, presumably an Unimog, a Geländewagen, and a couple of Defenders.

No word on other plot elements yet, but if it’s anything like the last four Transformers flicks, plot is really a minor concern. The Michael Bay film stars Mark Wahlberg, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Stanley Tucci, and Anthony Hopkins, who is apparently no longer interested in Oscars. Still, if all we get are explosions and hot cars, at least we get the hottest of the hot.

Transformers: The Last Knight hits theaters in June of 2017.
