As Mercedes-Benz sees more business case for cars like the AMG GT S, and the upcoming MB-powered Aston Martin, AMG boss, Tobias Moers, has come out and stated that the brand is seeing a more credible case to build a brand new flagship hypercar, on par with that of the Ferrari LaFerrari, the McLaren P1, and the Porsche 918 Spyder.

With the brand’s Formula 1 team smoking the rest of the competition, and the success of the AMG GT S, Mercedes could be getting ready to build a new hypercar. “The hypercar is always a credible business case. A year ago, we didn’t have the specialty to do that thing, but now we do,” Moers told Top Gear.

While it is still very early to be looking for prototypes, mules, or concepts, if the AMG boss gets the go ahead, the car will likely use the form of the much loved, and already developed, twin-turbo V12 engine found in the Pagani Huayra.

Like other new hypercars, and the upcoming Bugatti Chiron, any Mercedes offering will likely go hybrid. And if Mercedes AMG are smart, the new car will hit up the brand’s Formula 1 team for help.

What do you all think of these statements, do you want to see another Mercedes supercar?
