Mercedes-Benz is Buzzing by BMW in the U.S. Luxury Sales Race

Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class

Mercedes-Benz is the most popular luxury brand in America with last month’s sales up 25 percent over the year before. The brand’s sales success can be attributed to the CLA-Class that has recently gone on sale. With a new, low-priced model in showrooms, the gap between Mercedes-Benz and sales runner-up, BMW, is widening.

Last month Mercedes delivered more than 30,000 vehicles in the United States; 4,895 of those cars were CLAs. For the year, Mercedes-Benz is ahead of BMW by 4,986 deliveries, more than doubling their lead over BMW from last month.

BMW’s October sales totaled 27,574 units; up 4.2 percent from 2012. For the year, BMW has sold 240,139 cars while Mercedes-Benz has sold 245,125.

In 2011 and 2012 BMW was the U.S. luxury sales champ. With no new vehicle introductions until the BMW 2 Series begins sales in March of 2014, it looks as though the guys and gals at Benz have this year in the bag.
