Mercedes-Benz Considering Electric Maybach, but Will It Sell?

It’s really no secret by now: there have been rumors that Mercedes-Benz might roll out a new, electric-powered Maybach model. But if they do roll out such a model, will people actually buy it?

It’s clear that over the years, the more-exclusive model hasn’t quite lived up to the brand’s expectations. And while it appears that the more recently introduced S600 model (priced at about $190,000 base) is doing better, you still have to wonder if an even higher-priced EV Maybach would appeal to those buyers. Or, would those resources be better used on an entirely different model?

According to Auto Evolution, the electric Maybach could fall under the line of future electric models that will be sold under the EQ nameplate. The report also makes a pretty good point that we hadn’t really considered, which is that an electric Maybach could potentially have a lot of success as a concierge vehicle.

Although, you still have to wonder if that’s worth the investment.
