Mercedes-Benz EQ Will Drive Carmaker’s Future Mobility Strategy
It’s certainly no secret that Mercedes-Benz is serious about its future in the world of electric vehicles.
In fact, the only really question has been: what exactly will that future look like? Well, we’re starting to get the sense that the much-buzzed-about EQ Concept, showcased at the 2016 Paris Motor Show, might be our best insight into those plans.
According to Auto Blog, the future of Mercedes-Benz’s EV strategy will actually start with a production model of the EQ, leading a wave of other new alternative powertrain vehicles to follow. By 2025, Mercedes-Benz is expected to have 10 electric vehicles in the market.
Even more notable, Mercedes’s EV plans are also being positioned as part of a larger corporate strategy for the carmaker’s future mobility products called CASE, an acronym for “Connected, Autonomous, Shared & Services and Electric Drive.”
All and all, EVs are expected to account for 15 percent to 25 percent of Mercedes-Benz’s sales by 2025.
Look for a production model of the EQ to go on sale by 2020.
