Mercedes Connects the Dots From the 190 Evo II to the C350 e

The Mercedes-Benz PR department is frankly one of the best around. Between the company’s ads and their relationship with customers, Mercedes straight-up kills BMW and Audi. There’s obviously a sense of pride in craftsmanship, but also in the company’s storied heritage, and in showcasing that story for the public.

Take, for example, the Mercedes-Benz Reporter video below. For the introduction of the new hybrid C350 e, Mercedes-Benz TV brought the car to a racetrack. Now that may seem a bit odd, especially considering that the C350 e is much more oriented to comfort, but it all makes sense when showcasing the car against a classic 190 Evo II.

The comparison works because it shows that lineage and heritage is still ingrained within the new C-Class. And while the new C350 e isn’t the top performer, like the 190 Evo II was in its day, the car definitely has more sporting attributes than one might expect.

While this is still definitely an ad, and the reporter doesn’t exactly flog the two cars like they should be, it just goes to show you how much more Mercedes cares about its history.
