Mercedes GLA45 AMG vs Porsche Macan Turbo in Motor Trend’s Head 2 Head

It’s Mercedes-Benz vs Porsche. Between the two cars there is 755 horsepower, 738 pound-feet of torque, 5.6-liters of displacement and three turbochargers. It sounds like this could be one of the greatest “Head 2 Head” battles Motor Trend has ever conducted.

Except they aren’t testing wicked amazing sports cars, but rather a pair of small SUVs. What in the hell is happening in this world?

It’s the new GLA45 AMG versus the Macan Turbo, and as show host Jonny Lieberman puts it, it is a bit like trying to decide who is the best rollerblading elephant. In other words, it is a bit pointless, but hey, it’s still lots of fun to watch, as you can see in the video below.

At first glance this is a pretty one-sided fight. The Mercedes is smaller, has less interior space, and is far less powerful. Take a closer look though and you will see that the GLA is also an incredible 900 pounds lighter, and it carries a window sticker that is $19,000 less than the Porsche. We also can’t forget how insanely good looking the GLA45 is when compared to the Macan. The wings and splitters that dot the car are menacing, and that red paint just looks stunning when compared to the bland brown on the Porsche.

I am not going to spoil the outcome; its too fun to watch for some jerk writer like me to go and ruin it for you. You just need to press play and enjoy this 17-minute roll of automotive pornography.
