The 2015 Mercedes-Benz ML-Class lineup will see two new engines. This move was made in order to reduce engine displacement and increase fuel economy. Both engines will be twin-turbocharged.

The 2015 MB ML400

The 2015 Mercedes-Benz ML400 4MATIC, taking the place of the outgoing ML550 will replace the gas-hungry 4.7-liter V8 that got 14 city miles and 19 highway miles per gallon. The 2015 ML400 will have a three-liter twin-turbo V6 that puts out 329 horsepower and delivers 354 foot-pounds of torque. This engine will allow the ML400 to get 18 city miles per gallon, 22 highway miles, and a combined 20 miles per gallon. The car will come standard with a seven-speed automatic and Start-Stop technology to increase fuel efficiency.

The 2015 ML400 4MATIC will come with numerous luxury appointments. You can expect Harmon/Kardon premium audio components as well as multi-color ambient lighting. There’s even heated and cooled cupholders, keyless entry, and lane-keep assist.

The 2015 ML250 BlueTec

The 2015 ML250 BlueTec is replacing the ML350 BlueTec. The ML250 is a diesel-powered SUV using a 2.1-liter twin-turbo inline four that makes 200 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. Although quite a bit less powerful than the much larger engine in the ML350, the ML250 BlueTec engine is much smaller, thus the car weighs about 300 pounds less than before, bumping fuel economy numbers significantly. There are no official mileage numbers yet, but rumors have it that 30 MPG highway will be conservative.
