Modified Shootout: Renntech C63S Versus Ferrari 458
Friends don’t let friends drive stock, and the C63S rarely stays in its showroom form for long. Sparked in most part by a recentĀ discussion on our forums, it’s easy to see why the fire-breathing C63S would be compared to an Italian strutting around as a supercar. And humbling Italian supercars is AMG’s favorite game to play. It’s even easier when a RennTech kit is installed, taking the C63S from a damn-fast sedan to almost other-worldly levels of performance.
And that’s exactly what we have in the video below. A Renntech C63S versus a Ferrari 458, which is modified as well, with a Capristo exhaust. Fitting, as the 458 Italia emits a tune that should receive copyright royalties, even though it’s regularly played publicly.
So how do these two get on? Well, it’s staggeringly close to start. But as speed builds, the overwhelmingly greater torque of the AMG starts to show the 458 who’s boss. Granted, they are two very different approaches to speed. The 458 is a mechanical wonder with its 9,000 RPM red-line; however in this race, the brute force of a hammer has decided a winner. AMG FTW!
