The New C400 is Very Quick

2015 Mercedes-Benz C400 0-60 mph Test

Is it just me, or are regular cars getting extremely fast? Autobytel just had their hands on the new C400 4MATIC and got some pretty interesting performance figures from the almost-entry-level Mercedes sedan.

The new C400 uses a twin-turbo 3.0L V6 that develops 329 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque. While testing, the team recorded a staggering 0-60 in only 4.6 seconds. While not supercar quick, that’s extremely fast for a non-AMG-powered car.

The team tested each available drive mode and watched as the performance increased with each different setting.

In Comfort Mode with traction control off, the car clipped 60 mph in only five seconds, which is respectable for a heavier luxury sedan that has all-wheel drive.

With Sport Mode on and traction off, the car was able to hit 60 mph only a tenth of a second faster. Honestly, that tenth of a second less could be equipment error, so for the sake of argument, the number didn’t change.

Then, when the team put the car into Sport Plus, also with traction control off, things got interesting. The car launched considerably harder and hit 60 in only 4.6 seconds, which is quite amazing.

If the non-assault-weapons-grade W205 C-Class is this quick, it boggles the mind how much quicker the new C63 will be.
