Next A45 Spotted in Public

Spy-Shots of Cars

Mercedes may be getting everyone all hot and bothered with its various AMG GT prototypes that are constantly running around, but this week we got shots of something that is slightly less exciting, but much more important for Mercedes-Benz and their sales department. Oh, don’t worry; it still has an AMG badge.

The A-Class has been around for three years already, and it is due for a refresh. Now we have shots of the first altered A45 AMG model we have seen on the road. The exterior changes will be a bit milder than I had hoped for, but there will be massaged bumpers at both ends, and the lighting elements are freshened up front and rear. The interior will see a refresh as well, but you can’t really see that in any of these photos.

Another thing we’re looking forward to are a few modifications to the engine. Expect a touch more power, a bit more refinement, and maybe even a bump in fuel economy. AMG is already wringing an insane 360 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque out of their 2.0-liter, so don’t expect that power number to climb too far northward, but a bump of a few ponies should be possible. With other hot hatches arriving on the market with more than 300 horses, Mercedes will want to keep a stark power advantage.

All should be revealed soon; we expect the new A-Class to make its public debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show this fall.
