Performance Class 101: Don’t Let Your Nephew Drive Your 500-HP Sports Car

“One does not simply let his nephew drive…”

The second we came across the start of that Car Scoops headline, we knew it couldn’t end with a Mercedes model.

I mean, c’mon, what Mercedes owner would by crazy enough to let their nephew drive their prized Benz? On the other hand, it appears that if you own one of the marque’s main competitors, the idea might make perfect sense.

That certainly would explain the latter portion of the headline: “…a 500 HP Porsche 911 GT3 RS.” And you’ll understand why you simply don’t allow such a nephew behind the wheel when you look at the photos showing the damage done to the $175,900 car, some of which we’ve shared below.

In all honesty, I’m not sure I’d be comfortable with letting anyone in my family drive my car if it was capable of going from 0 – 62 mph in 3.3 seconds. And while you won’t find that tip in any owner’s manual, we’ve certainly heard of enough incidents to know that it probably just isn’t a good idea.

Luckily, it doesn’t appear that the nephew suffered any serious injuries. But it definitely should serve as food for thought for any AMG GT-S owners who might be considering loaning it out to a family member for the weekend.
