It doesn’t matter that the new 4.0L twin-turbocharged V8 has more horsepower and torque, it just can’t replace the almighty fury that came out of the exhaust from the 6.2L naturally aspirated V8 in AMG’s previous models. It was a sound of Brunellian hellfire, and it was good. With that said, thanks to PP-Performance’s new tunes for the 4.0L engines, we’re slowly coming around.

According to the company, it has developed a new set of tunes for the C63 S and the AMG GT S. Strictly just an ECU re-flash nets 70 horsepower in the new C63 S, which brings the total up to 580 horsepower. Add a new catless exhaust and intake, and that number climbs to 613 horsepower. For the AMG GT S however, things get much more interesting.

Using a different tune and an exhaust package, the car gets a boost in horsepower, but it’s real party piece is lowering the car’s 0-62 miles per hour time by almost a half a second. The new sportscar will hit 62 miles per hour now in just 3.4 seconds, and continue on until it his 201 miles per hour.

The price for all this performance? Only $6,000, which in terms of how much performance you’re getting is a bargain compared to many other outfits.
