S63 AMG vs Panamera Turbo vs M6

Three of the Top German Luxury Performers — the Mercedes-AMG S63, the Porsche Panamera Turbo, and the BMW M6 — Face off. But There Can Only Be One Winner

The good people across the pond at Autocar have put together a high-powered German luxury comparison for the ages. The contenders: Mercedes Benz’s thunderous luxury flagship coupe, the S63, Porsche’s brand new Panamera Turbo, and the slightly-aging-but-still-potent BMW M6. The test? Determining which car is the fastest around a short circuit, while also examining the ride quality and general feel of each car using… well, a drawing test.

We’ll let the video explain that one. But here is some relevant information about the three cars, to help set the table.

The Mercedes-AMG S63 is the company’s most sought after coupe, other than the AMG GT, perhaps. The S63 is good for 577 horsepower with a whopping 664 lb-ft of torque backing it up. That allows for a 3.8 zero to 60 time.

Even though it adds two doors compared to the Benz, the all-new Panamera Turbo puts out 520 horsepower. It can reach 60 miles per hour in just under 4.0 seconds, when the Sport Chrono Package is specced.

Lastly, the BMW M6 — in this case, the Gran Coupe — has 560 horsepower. That pushes the car to 60 in 4.0 seconds.

So the numbers are extremely close. Which is one of many reasons customers will likely cross-shop these three vehicles. Regardless of who wins this time, though: Germany is producing some truly incredible luxury speed machines at the moment.
