Tuned CLK63 AMG Spits Flames!

silence to violence

It always brightens my heart to write about 209s, being an owner of one myself. It’s especially heartwarming to write about one as amazing as this. This CLK63 AMG, fitted with the M156 engine and tuned by Fluid Motor Union, is so hot it has to spit flames on occasion, which has caused a bit of a stirĀ on our forums. Fitted with a supercharger and essentially modified to be a race car for the road, this is likely not the first time you’ve seen this very gray Benz.

But for speculation on why it shoots flames, well, that comes down to two things: a change in ECU mapping and heavy modification to the exhaust. The ECU mapping is fairly straight forward. Add more fuel due to the increased air flow from the supercharger and you’ll sometimes get a bit of extra fuel burnt off in the exhaust. But normally that’s suppressed by the catalytic converters, and the secondary catalytic converts. Going catt-less gives me a tinge of excitement, and if it does for you as well, you can hear it in the video below.
