Spy Shots: GLC a.k.a. New GLK-Class

Spy-Shots of Cars

Here at MBWorld our superhuman spy photographers can penetrate through 30-foot-thick steel walls. Alright, that’s clearly an exaggeration, but when it comes to test mules covered with disorienting vinyl gift wrapping (which I have now decided I want to use for my Christmas presents this year) our spies laugh heartily.

The MBW spies recently came across this gem: the second-generation Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class. Of course, because it is the automotive industry’s goal to confuse the hell out of you, the next GLK will be called the GLC because the alphabet soup Gods reign supreme.

It its current state of undress, this GLC clearly borrows some of its looks from the new W205 C-Class on which it is based. To help lessen the confusion, the “C” in GLC acknowledges this vehicle is based on the C-Class. Internally designated the X205, you can place a pretty secure bet that the new GLC will share engines found in W205 cars.

The biggest news about this second-gen C-Class-based SUV? It has been confirmed by MB brass that an AMG version is in the works! While we’re both jumping up and down like schoolgirls, I’ll tell you it is likely the GLC AMG will get the 4.0L biturbo V8 found in the C63 and the Mercedes-AMG GT. High-riding Benz fans: your answer to the Porsche Macan Turbo is on its way.

Expect this and the refreshed ML (likely to be renamed “GLE”) to debut next year.
