Spy Shots: Mercedes Concept Coupe SUV Spotted!

So, you thought that concept yesterday was just a dream? A glimmer in the wistful eyes of Mercedes? Not so! Mercedes’ plan to scour all meaning from the word coupe continues with the latest spy shots of their Concept Coupe SUV. You might also know it as the MLC.

The sloping roof line, high-waist, and car-like greenhouse probably mean this feels like a sedan on the inside. It does also have high ground clearance, but I imagine it’d be more comfortable jumping over curbs than jumping on dirt. This makes sense of course because Mercedes already builds the ultimate off-roader in the G-Class. Honestly? It feels like Mercedes is going the same way BMW went with the X6. Both parties have surgically removed the “utility” part from the SUV equation. They’re keeping the “sport” part though.

The concept has a twin-turbo V6 that produces some 333 horsepower. It’s got all-wheel-drive too, but the transmission modes are not geared towards taking on trails. I mean, the thing has a Sport and a Sport + mode. Those are both “fast-driving-on-pavement” modes.
