This 1950 Mercedes-Benz 170 is Both Cool and Reliable

For some of us, our day starts out on Bring a Trailer seeing what rarities they have to offer. On there now is this 1950 Mercedes-Benz 170. It looks awesome, and you don’t have to worry about reliability or the thing starting up every day. Why? Because the engine has been replaced with a small block Chevrolet V8.

The 355 cu/in engine is mated to a General Motors automatic transmission, and the owner has put 30,000 miles on it since he obtained it and did the swap.

The owner also spent a lot of time making sure the 170 looks original and stock on the outside. We think he did a pretty great job on it, and it looks like something we’d take bootlegging some alcohol if we had the opportunity.

Additionally, the car is a driven vehicle. It’s not a trailer queen, so it does some wear and tear that comes with actually driving a car. But we respect someone who buys a car, works on it, and then drives it so they can enjoy it.

You can check out the full listing over on Bring a Trailer.
