The new Mercedes SLC is little more than a refreshed SLK roadster, but the little two-door has been drumming up a lot of interest, and you guys seem to really love our spy shots of the upcoming car. Well rather than show you another set of mildly camouflaged cars, we found something better to share. The cool kids over at TopSpeed have taken those spy shots and used them to help create a render of what the new car could look like.

The big changes all take place on the nose with a softer and more upright grille, headlights that are more similar to what the new S-Class wears, and the new front bumper with larger intakes. TopSpeed rendered the AMG model, so there are large black alloy wheels, a chin spoiler, side skirts, and extra chrome accents. Considering the visual changes will be minor, I think it’s safe to say that TopSpeed’s render is pretty close to what the actual car will look like when it gets unveiled later this year.

When that official reveal happens, expect there to be a handful of engine choices, but the most exciting model will be the new SLC AMG. Expect the same 4.0-liter turbocharged engine from the new C63 to find its way under the bonnet, bringing about 470 horsepower with it. That will mean a bump of more than 50 horsepower over the outgoing SLK55. The naming scheme that will be used for the new AMG is a little up in the air. TopSpeed thinks that Mercedes will stick with the “55” numbering, but I think the new SLC name will give Mercedes a chance to start over with naming and perhaps go with SLC 45 AMG.

Whatever they name it, one thing is certain, this new Mercedes roadster will be better looking, faster, and more refined than the car it replaces. That sounds like a solid win in my book.
