The New E350 Diesel Takes Center Stage

The new E350 diesel is a showcase of technology. Even things that were fitted to the staggering new S-class now pale in comparison to the new E-class, which was admittedly in need of an overhaul as one of the last in the model line to get updated. In this video hosted by Carfection, we get a taste of what the new E350 diesel is like to drive, how all of that tech works, and even what this car means to the industry in terms of autonomous driving.

The shining features of this car must be the anti-collision technology. Where BMW’s 5-series might be more centered on the driving experience, the E-class has a message about occupant safety. It has sensors and radar that allow it to simply follow the car in front with no driver input, even around bends. If it is all clear, the car will change lanes for you. And of course it comes with Mercedes’ Collision Prevention Assist, which will slam on the anchors if the car thinks you’re going to hit another car, deer, person, or anything else for that matter.

But how much is too much? Does it go beyond what most buyers will end up using? That’s tough to say. Watch the video and let us know what you think.
