Awesome 1963 Mercedes Unimog on Ebay.

Yeah, it’s ugly and slow, but the Unimog is one of the most legendary and ubiquitous vehicles in Mercedes history. It’s basically bullet proof, and is easily the Mercedes we would be happiest to have in a zombie apocalypse. 

Luckily for the rest of us, a New York man has put his truck on eBay.

Besides the G-class, the unimog is Mercedes’ oldest platform. They started producing them after World War Two as agricultural equipment. Their versatility and ruggedness led them to popularity and, eventually, fame. In a way, it’s the “Jeep” of Germany. It might not have turned itself into a normal car like the Jeep did, but it’s unassailable off road prowess has kept it alive through the years in other ways (most notably at the Dakar rally).

This one was built in ’63, so it’s not a post war relic. We don’t imagine working on a 50 year old would be in such good condition, but this one has been used relatively lightly. In fact, it’s only got 10,000 miles on the odometer. It’s even got a 6 speed transmission!
