SLR/C199/R199/Z199: NEW SLR 722 version out ...

Doe look like fun, though, doesn't it?

The SLR IMO is a Grand Tourer -- but you can eat up the track in one.
This model, with its tuning, seems to be even more 'track-oriented'.
I am going to talk with the folks in Affalterbach about the 722 when I'm there; and I will most likely order one for my residence which is located near Paul Ricard where they have the SLR Club headquartered - just for the halibut, to try it out.
I am hoping that it is more extreme in performance, without being uncomfortably extreme on the road.
I don't know about those wheels though...going to have to paint them silver or something....

What I dont get is the weight - why go carbon fibre if it still weighs 1980kg???
Ferrari 599 is 1700kg - I just dont get it. There is no obvious area where the weight comes from to me... ??? Maybe Carbon Fibre is not so light after all...

The kerb weight for the SLR is around 1640kg
A steel structure to the equivalent bending and torsional rigidity would weigh in the region of 200-300kg more (including the outer panels)
