Can an engine from a 190e 2.6 work in a 2.3 190E
Hi. I have a 1988 V4, Automatic, 190E and the engine is complete shot. There is a guy selling an engine from a 1990 190E, 2.6 V6 mercedes with only 90,000 miles on it.
Question. Will the engine fit and work in my car or will my mechanic have to do something really fancy to get this to work or is it just a straight swap pretty much. I cant ask my meachanic as he is out oif the country but I would like to buy the engine so he can put it in when he comes bk.
Will all the lines etc work from the 1990 car in mine. any additional engine parts that I should grab so they wold work in mine? Please advise. Thanks a lot for taking the time to read and respond.
Regards,
Wes

The 2.6 engine isnt a V6. Its an inline 6 cylinder. Same with the 4 cylinder. It will fit, but you will need the ECU, wiring harness...etc. You will also need the torque converter from the 2.6. The 2.6 engine is a little heavier than the 2.3, so you might have to do something with the suspension.

Will drop right in. Need the ECU. Will need new Ignition Control Module and wiring harness. Tranny and motor mounts will bolt right up. And as stated the tourque converter as well.

Thanks to everyone who responded.
How about the radiator. The car I will grab the engine from is missing the radiator. Also, will the suspension need to be adjusted?

Forgot radiator. Yes you will need that. There is really no diference in suspension. The engine do not difer in weight by that much.
