Have a 2005 Golf TDI,Had a 190e, want another..
190e with a manual trans?
Hi all,
Did MB sell the 190e with a manual transmission in the states?
Is this a strong transmission?
Also, how would I be able to easily tell if the car was converted?

yes, both the Getrag 'dog-leg' 5-speed from the 16v and the more economical ratio standard H 5 speed.
people I know are running 4 or 500hp through getrags
the standard trans can take 250-300 with a good clutch
84-88, 91-93 190E 2.3 8 valve
86-93 190E 2.6 12 valve
xx-xx 300E 2.6 12 valve
they all work on the M10x and OM60x motors.

best way to tell is run your vin through the russian owners club vin checker to see what your came came with from the factory.

in nearly perfect condition, @ a used car dealer?

the gross taxi colored one? not worth more than 1k to me. Who cars if it has 10K itll never be worth much, is undesired, and the low mileage just means it sat for a looooong time and will need a lot of work.

tranny swap
I have an auto 92 190e 2.6 and I want to swap it to a manual I have my eye on a 190d parts car with a manual tranny would I be able to swap it out? Or not because it's the deisel model?

I have a 1991 2.3 8v 5 speed. Love it. The automatic transmission actually starts off in second gear which really bogs down the 2.3 off the line as it pulling almost 4000 lbs of car. If you daily driver, standard have pattern would be better as the gtrag has different gears and you will be in higher rpm range on the freeway unless you swap the final drive gear in the diff to the 16v model which had a mechanical (or hydrolic on the cars with sls suspension) limited slip. Bit of a headache tbh.
