Good day, need some advice please. Oil pressure reading goes down (sometimes below 2) when I stop at traffic light. As soon as I pull off, it goes back to 3 and remains there whilst I'm going. Reason/s and cure? Thank you very much.

Mine has been doing the same thing for over 225K miles....its OK for it to go down. When it starts to drop below 2 that usually aligns when its time to change the oil.

I used to run thicker oil grades (50W) thinking it would be better for the engine but I was told otherwise...especially in the cold Ohio weather where it takes longer for the oil to climb up the cam towers; best to use a high grade 5W - 30W.

So I started using Mobil 1 and it holds the oil pressure above 2 for many miles...spend the extra money...its worth it!

Thank you so much for the response, Rauhbatz! Was advised it might be the oil type clogging up the filter and therefore changed the filter and oil type but it still goes down when waiting at a stop street or traffic light. Seems to go back to just below 3 when I move the gear selector to Neutral. Will definitely try Mobil 1 and report back. Warm regards.

VERY POSSIBLE IT JUST NEEDS A NEW OIL PRESSURE SENDING UNIT ON THE OIL FILTER HOUSING IT SCREWS INTO THE BACK AND HAS A DIAPHRAM INSIDE THAT CAN LEAK OVER TIME WITH A NEW ONE INSTALLED YOU WILL PROBABLY NEVER SEE IT DROP BELOW 2 AGAIN FOR QUITE A LONG TIME.
