190e shutting off when driving.

Ok, so let me give some details on whats going on with the car. I got my car and it would run right without problems for about 3 weeks. THEN, it turned off on me as I was going up a hill, then it shut off the day after when I pulled out of my house into the street. I took it to a mercedes repair shop and they said they didn't know what the problem was? Yes. I didn't believe it, how can a mercedes specialist not know. Anyways, this is just getting irritating. Today I was driving in the freeway and it turned off and to the right lane was a semi truck, I'm lucky I had some space to get into the emergency lane or else I wouldn't be writing this post.

I'm willing to listen to your guys opinion, has any of you had the same problem? When you drive it turns off in the freeway, small streets and when at stops?

I would appreciate the help a lot, this is my first car and she is a clean w201, I don't want to let her go because of me not knowing what is wrong. Thank you all.

New, old Mercedes and REAL AMG's.
I experienced the same thing and it turned out to be fuel related. In my case, just a bad fuel pump relay, a $120 part. Swapped it and good to go.

Good luck!

I never experienced that in my w201, but I had another car do it and found out the main ground wire was loose. If it just cutting off or are you loosing ALL power?

The lights and the radio stay on but I loose all gas power, the gas pedal doesn't respond at all. So the ground wire was loose? Now, did that make your car shut off randomly when driving and at stop signs too?

Thank you. Well I'll ask the mechanic to check that for me so I can know if the relay is the problem or not.
