Setting the timing chain on my 2.6L - Help please
I'm almost finished putting the new 2.6L engine together so I can drop it into my '89 190E.
I'm at the point where I need to put the head on. I'm confident that I have the crank positioned correctly with the pin that protrudes from the harmonic balancer/crank pulley at the top and my numbers 1 and 6 cylinders all the way up.
I need someone to help me get my cam shaft in the correct position so I can bolt the head on. I see that the cog on the front of the cam shaft has a hole for a little dowel pin that's on the actual cam shaft, and the hole for the pin has an arrow pointing to it. When I rotate the cam shaft so that the arrow on the cog is at the top, it looks like my valves for cylinders 1 and 6 are not seated all the way and I would think they should be since cylinders 1 and 6 are all the way up and would be hitting the valves.
If someone could please lend me some of their knowledge/experience, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much in advance.
