Mercedes 190 D.
rear end/differential ratio

I have a 1984 190d and my question is this.. At 60 miles an hour the RPMsare almost right at 3000. I have a four speed automatic transmission but obviously the fourth gear is definitely not overdrive. So, is the rear axle on my Mercedes a removable center section such as a Ford 9 inch? If so it would be nice to find out what ratios are available and what years will fit. Any help on this would certainly be appreciated. Thanks.. Dan

The correct way to answer your questions is ----start by posting the VIN!!
