Biggest Engine you can fit in a 1984 190E
Hello everybody,
As you can read in the title I have a 1984 190E (1.8L) manual and I'd like to upgrade to a much bigger engine.
I know it's possible to fit a bigger engine but which is the biggest one I could fit into my car?
Will the engine from a
I listed these two ones cause they are the biggest ones I can find in my country (Yemen).
There's noway I would find a cosworth engine here so I'm stuck with the stock, normal engines you would find in standard cars.
That's all I want to know.
And if any other BIG, POWERFUL engines are an option please list them down for me (Even if it's not Mercedes-made but I prefer it to be Mercedes)
P.S: The cost won't be a problem as long as it's possible to mount a powerful engine, and NO! I will not buy a 300E or a e320 or any other car, my 190E holds a very special place in my heart, it's more of a dear friend than just a car.
Lastly,
PLEASE forgive my horrible English and essay-writing skills, I'm Arabic and thank you in advance.

I don't know about the 1984 model, but I had a 1988 190E, and although mine was a 2.3L 4-cylinder, there was an option in that year for a 2.6L 6-cylinder engine. It may not be the powerhouse you dream of, but there may be speed parts available for it in the aftermarket. I can't say how common they were, but they did exist.
