Brakes suddenly failed

Hi and thanks in advance.
I have a 190E (W201) Mercedes Benz, year 1993, drives perfectly fine until...

Yesterday I had had a car accident and fortunately I was at low speed (~10mph) and I crashed into a car in front of me.
I was going to slow down and stop at an intersection, when I braked the brake became hard as a rock to push (that's the first time...), it felt like the was some friction noise inside the car (maybe ABS problem)... I panicked and forgot to use the handbrake so I hit the car whom I was behind.

Later I started my car and the brake was working, so I went to a mechanic and he tested it several time, and said it was fine!! The pads, the fluid and the wheel disks are also fine.

Any advise please? thanks.

You had a nightmare and dreamt this story of rear ending your ex wife!!

In your dream did any of the dash lights go on and flicker!
