Replacing the Battery in your Key Fob with PIX

First, pull out the valet key...

My key fob has this little grey "button" that will release the insidemechanism that hold the battery in place...

I use the short end of the metal key you press the "button" and release the inner mechanism....

Then just pull apart the key....

I like the Mercedes key the most out of any car key by far. Even more than the Rolls Royce key.

Thanks for the pics. I wish more members will take pictures of the How-to's. It doesn't matter if is just as simple as replacing the battery of your key fob. Thanks again

Sure but this forum doesn't allow posting pics. You have to host them elsewhere and then link to them, unlike benzworld.org that allows this.

Nice post. The battery is a CR2032 BTW, or if you're in a bind, you can sub a CR2016 back to back with a dime.

FYI, you can replace the CR2025 with the CR2032... however, the 2032 is thicker, and holds more charge. I do not not recommend stuffing 2X 2032 (it's actually 2x 2025) batteries in there. I replaced ONE CR2025 with ONE CR2032, and it works fine. Did not have to reprogram anything, etc. The mechanism for holding the batteries is a little delicate so be nice to it.

=) It's a little tighter with 1x 2032, but just fine.

Just figured out my newest style key while trying to use these old instructions.

On the most recent versions, you remove the mechanical key like the older versions, then put the mechanical key in the hole and lift off the rear black plastic cover, there's a little plastic tab at the rear end (where the mechanical key goes in) that you need to depress with the key, then the plastic cover will come out a bit (it's hinged at the front of the key). I'll throw some pics in my thread.

I wish there were some consistency - I almost broke my key trying to do it the old-fashioned way.

How come I have a thread with multiple pages, and you're too lazy to search for it?

Equally puzzling!!
